Of shoes and ships and sealing-wax, of cabbages and kings
All right, so you've made the ill begotten choice of learning about me! Ooooo ... this should be fun. Well, maybe not. In any case, I'll just start out with a few boring things ... my name is Amanda, *not* Mandy, just to clear that one up. I live in a small, hazy town of Iowa ... well, small in my book, but according to my friends' book it says it's the 174th largest city in the US. But I'm still not convinced! Besides, I say that 174 is doing pretty bad!Oops ... anyway, I live in Iowa, I homeschool, and I'm a regular pioneer. (I was just put on the list this September) I've been baptised over 2 years now, and I'm looking forward to pioneering for a long time. I like poetry a great deal, as you can tell, I love reading and writing when I have the time. I love music, I don't have really a specified type of music I listen to, generally it's things to that have some sort of meaning to me. I've always loved jazz for the mood it puts me in. So while I don't like a lot of music, I'll generally try to at least give it a chance before declaring it evil or something.
And ... what else? Well, ... good question. I'll try and respond with an appropriate answer ... well, I like sewing, hanging out with my friends, using the computer, playing and watching sports. Football is my main one, but I've gotten into baseball, (just don't tell my sisters!) it's really an awesome sport once you learn all (or at least the gist) of the rules and regulations. I love to play basketball, but when you're 5''3 (actually, I'm not even that, but I like to round it off to make myself sound taller), it doesn't work out terribly well, so I just exercise in other ways! If you're ever in Iowa, I'd love someone to jog with!
I've moved around a lot, and we're looking into moving right now, I'm not sure when or where that will be though. But right now I live here with two of my sisters and my parents, I have another sister who lives close to Iowa City, she's expecting a son in late December. I'll have a picture of my family up soon!
I'm pretty much your run of the mill teenaged girl, I'm interested in virtually anything, especially cow tipping! j/k. Well, as you can see, I just kind of meander in my speech, at least when I'm talking to myself, (coincidentally, that's something I've gotten quite good at) so anything you'd like to know, e-mail me, or send me a message on ICQ.
In case you ever wonder, and before you ask, the screen name "helpful corn" really has no true psychological signifigance behind it, (unless you consider what my mental state must be to actually *pick* the name!) it's simply what it means: helpful corn. It doesn't have any Iowa connotations behind it, either! I didn't even think about that at the time! So I just thought I'd clear that up! Besides ... you never know. You could be stranded and deserted on a dark highway at night, fearfully glancing right and left waiting for poachers and thieves and car jackers ... and there the corn is, with a pair of jumper cables in hand. Hey, don't knock it, you never know when it'll come to your rescue!
